End of Season Report
Well the 2009 racing season is over. It wasn't a real good year for me. I didn't get to race a whole lot of races and I also had a lot of bad luck at the track. I've learned a lot this racing season. I've learned about patience, frustration, sportsmanship and hard luck. I'ts all part of racing and I just look at it as a learning experience. I love racing and there is nothing that will ever make me lose my passion for it.
Next season I'll be moving up to the Youth Production Class. I'm getting a Honda 300 and will be spending most of my Spring practicing on it. I've never used a clutch before, so this will all be new to me. I'm really excited to be moving up and can't wait to get on my new machine and go! You will see me at the track next season, but I won't be able to race until my birthday in June. I have to work hard in the Spring and prove to my parents that I have the strength and ability to handle a 400lb machine with my petite 89lb body. Haha I will be working out over the winter to improve my upper body strength. I really look forward to the 2010 season!
State Race Round 2 Warm-Up Race at Trojan Raceway
Last weekend I headed over to Trojan Raceway for a weekend of racing. Saturday night was the 2009 Quad Clash. There was an awesome mini quad turnout...13 in all! First moto I took 3rd in the holeshot behind Logan and Abby. I worked hard to get in front of Abby and it paid off. I gained some ground on Logan, but wasn't able to catch him before the end of the moto. I took 2nd in the first moto. 2nd moto I grabbed the holeshot and gained a comfortable lead. I took first, which gave me a first overall.
During the first moto of the Sunday morning race I pulled 3rd in the holeshot and held that position for the whole race. 2nd moto I didn't do too well. I took 4th in the holeshot and couldn't get around the 3rd place rider. I ended up with a 3rd overall. This weekend I am heading back to Trojan Raceway for the 2nd race in the State Series. There will be some great competition...should be fun!
State Race
On July 19th I raced the first race of the State series at G&S in LaOtto, Indiana. My first moto I took a solid 3rd place. 2nd moto I was running right behind the 2nd place rider when I tangled with the rider behind me. I got spun around. It allowed the 1st and 2nd place riders to get a great lead on me. By the time I got back on the track I was running in 4th. I pushed so hard to catch the 3rd place rider. I got brave and hit this big double to make a pass. Right when I landed I popped my chain! I managed to get my chain back on and rode hard but only finished with a 6th overall. This was a big setback for me in the state series. I can only hope I have better luck in the last two state races.
On August 1st I headed over to Hangtime MX Park in Akron, Indiana. I only raced the morning race. I took 1st in both motos, which gave me a 1st overall. My next race will once again be at Hangtime MX Park next weekend. I look forward to getting back on the track!

Sweet 16
This past weekend I headed over to Sweet 16 in Fort Wayne to enjoy a full day of racing. It had rained early that morning so the track was a mess. After careful consideration I chose not to race the morning race. I don't mind racing in mud, but the mud was pretty bad. Racing in deep mud will just tear things up on my quad. So I just sat the morning out and hung out with some of my friends.
During the first moto of the evening race I got first gate pick. I lined up all the way to the left. As the gate dropped I found myself getting pinched out so I took advantage of my great suspension and jumped a dirt mound right by the corner tire. It paid off, putting me 2nd in the holeshot. As the race progressed Blake, who was in first, got spun out by a lapped rider, flipping his quad. That left me in the first position and battling fiercely to maintain it. My hard riding paid off and I took first in the first moto.
Second moto I didn't get as great of a holeshot. I was running 4th and managed to work my way up to the 3rd position. It wasn't easy keeping that position because I had some heavy competition riding on my tail. It was a very close, very aggressive race but I held my position giving me 3rd in the 2nd moto and taking 1st overall.

This weekend I will be heading to G&S for the first race in the State series. Looking forward to the start of the series!
Trojan Raceway
Saturday June 20th I headed over to Trojan Raceway for their evening race. It was a nice day but not so nice when it came to racing. I had some tough competitors and my quad just wasn't running up to par. I had some problems with my clutching, so my quad was bogging pretty bad. Plus, I popped a chain both motos! Ugh!!! It wasn't fun, but stuff like that happens from time to time. I ended up with a 6th overall. I was going to head over to G&S for a race the next day, but since my quad wasn't running right, we just stayed the night at Trojan. Sunday Trojan had an open practice and I just hung out with some new friends while my lil bro practiced. It was still an awesome weekend!

This past Sunday my brother and I raced our first Race at Wildcat Creek MX in Rossville, Indiana. There were only 2 other quads there besides myself. They were 2 riders I had never raced before. First moto I pulled the holeshot and maintained my position for a 1st moto win. 2nd moto I got spun out when me and one of the riders got tangled up. It left me in last place. I spun my quad around and fought hard to catch both riders. I passed both of them by the 2nd lap and stayed in first for the overall win.
I will be taking off next weekend so that I can go enjoy the Redbud Pro MX National in Buchanan, Michigan. Monster Energy (one of my sponsors) provided me with tickets which will allow me, my family and a few of my friends free admission! Thank you Monster...you rock!!! I look forward to watching the pro's and hanging out with my friends! You will probably catch me at Sweet 16 the following weekend!
Have a safe and happy 4th of July!
Beat The Sundown Round Three Update
This past Saturday I headed over to D&D for the 3rd round of the Beat the Sundown series. It was a nice day but it had rained the day before so the track was muddy in the morning
First moto of the morning race as I took off from the holeshot my tires just started spinning because the sand was so soft. It caused my tires to dig deep into the sand. The rest of the quads had gotten about a 2 second jump on me. As I finally hooked into the sand, I pushed hard and managed to get in the 3rd position in the holeshot behind Logan Stanfield and Brogan Guyer. Logan had a pretty good jump on us but Brogan and I pushed hard to try and catch him. Towards the end of the first lap Logan got caught in a sandy birm which allowed both Brogan and me to get by him. At the next jump I made my move on Brogan and took over the 1st place position. I held it to the end leaving me with a 1st. Second moto I pulled the holeshot and held my position to the end. It left me with a 1st overall. For the second race I pulled the holeshot both motos and took 1st overall.
I was planning on taking Sunday off, but found out about a race going on at Wabash Cannonball. We headed over there the next day for their Danny Umbarger Classic race. It was a great day and there were a lot of people there. Danny Umbarger was a MX racer who became paralized during a state race 20 years ago. My dad use to race when Mr. Umbarger did and was at the state race the weekend he was injured. He says Mr. Umbarger was an awesome rider.
My race went really well. I took the holeshot in both motos which gave me a first overall. I had a lot of fun hanging out with my friends too! I will be heading over to Trojan Raceway next weekend if the weather is good. It's my favorite track!
Beat The Sundown Round Two Update
Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in updating my blog. It's been a busy week, but I will update you on my last two weekends. Saturday, June 30th we headed over to D&D for the 2nd weekend of the "Beat The Sundown" series. That track is very sandy and this morning it was quite wet too. My quad ran well at Trojan, but D&D Motorsports is a more wide open track which requires lots of top end. My quad wasn't set up for these conditions, but I did my best to run as hard as I could. The morning race I took a 3rd place. The afternoon my friend Blake took the holeshot both motos but had a bit of engine trouble. It left me, Logan Stanfield and Brogan Guyer fighting for the 1st position. I pushed hard and took 1st.
This past weekend I took off from racing. It was my birthday last week so I had a party at my house. It was a great weekend and I had sooo much fun with my friends. We had a water fight and there was even a food fight. Lots of laughs and a really good time! Next weekend I'll be back at D&D Motorsports again for round three in the "Beat the Sundown" series. I have my work cut out for me!

May Buff Daddy
This weekend I headed off to Trojan Raceway for their annual "Buff Daddy" series. I love that weekend because it's 4 days of camping and racing at the track. It just so happens that its always at my favorite track!! The series consists of 6 races in 4 days.
After struggling with the fine tuning of my new quad the past few weeks, my quad was running great. The weather was also great and I was soo ready to race! I struggled in the holeshot all weekend, only taking it once out of all my motos. It just pushed me to work harder to get around the riders in front of me. My riding skills paid off. I won 5 out of 6 of the races. I took a 2nd in my last race finishing behind by buddy Blake Sarver. I won the Buff Daddy Series for the 3rd year in a row. It was a great accomplishment because I was up against a lot of great riders!
I love Buff Daddy weekend. It's exhausting, but I get to do 2 of my favorite things: race and camp out at the track all weekend. I love hanging out with my racing friends too. We all live far apart and the track is the only time I get to see them.
It feels great to be back at the track racing with my new quad. I look forward to a challenging, but great racing season!

New Update
The week before last I tried out my new machine at D&D. I raced both of the Saturday races which was the first weekend in the "Beat The Sundown" series. My quad still needed some fine tuning, but despite that fact I won both of my races.
This past weekend I headed off to Sweet 16. The Saturday morning race my quad ran good, but 2nd moto my carb fell off and I ended up getting 4th overall. During the afternoon practice I noticed my quad had a bog to it so my parents removed my carb and cleaned it out. It had sucked in dirt. First moto I took 3rd in the holeshot but half way though the race my quad started bogging again. I finished 3rd in the first moto. Again, my parents cleaned out my carb. It had somehow sucked in more dirt. Unfortunately, they weren't able to get it up and running before my 2nd moto so I wasn't able to finish my race.
Unfortunately, sometimes these things happen. It's not fun, but it is to be expected. I still had a fun day and was just thrilled to be back racing again. Looking forward to my next race!

March Update
Today I headed up to Hangtime. I was kind of frustrated because my new quad isn't ready yet, so I didn't get to race. So, I went up just to watch my little bro race and hang out with my track friends.
My fun was short lived when my best friend Levi crashed during his moto and broke both of his wrists. They took him to the hospital in an ambulance. He had to have surgery to repair his breaks. It really scared me.
Levi, I'm so sorry about your crash. Hang in there. I hope to see you back at the track soon. I'll miss you!
My new quad is close to being finished. It is being built by Rich Hetrick of Hetrick Racing. I am anxious to get it so that I can get back to racing...I'm going crazy waiting!!! I'll post pictures when I get it!

District 15 Banquet
This weekend I headed down to Indianapolis for the District 15 Awards Banquet. It was a bit of a drive but I was so anxious to go I didn't care. It was sooo nice to see some of my racing friends there. I got to hang out with Levi, Mattie and Blake. I also got to chat a bit with a few of my other racing friends. We got to Hang out and catch up on things. I had so much fun!
I received a glass trophy and a #1 plate for the State Race Championship and I received an embroidered fleece jacket and #1 plate for being the District 15 Champion.

Congratulations to my little bro for taking 3rd in the State Race Championship and 1st in the District 15 Championship! Also Congratulations to Levi for taking 5th in the District 15 Championship, Mattie for taking 1st in both the State and District 15 Championship and to Blake for taking 2nd in the District 15 Championship.

Also, congratulations to all the other riders who worked hard all season and earned their awards!
Next weekend I'm heading to Indianapolis to watch the pro supercross race at Luke Oil Stadium! I may even swing into Dreyer Motorsports the night before for the supercross party where I can meet my favorite riders. It's gonna be an awesome weekend!
The following weekend I am heading to the Read's Awards Banquet! I can't wait!

In Our Thoughts
Robin Fulkerson, a long time ATV enthusiast of Oil City, Pennsylvania and valued member of Hetrick Racing, passed away Saturday, January 24th, 2008 due to heart complications. Robin was an avid supporter of the sport of ATV racing both on the national and regional motocross scenes and played an intricate part in the day to day operations of Hetrick's performance shop and racing programs. She is survived by her two sons, Kyle and Casey Bard. She was a wonderful lady and will truly be missed.

Fort Wayne Arenacross - Updated January 21, 2009
With the winter blues trying to get the best of me, my family and I headed into Fort Wayne for the Arenacross Race at the Memorial Coliseum. We had gotten a lot of snow that Thursday, so there was no school. We headed to our hotel a day early to enjoy the indoor pool and hot tub.
It was great to be back at the coliseum again. I had so much fun last year that I couldn't help but be excited to be there again! We pitted next to the Johnson Family and Sarver family. Because the event was spread out from sign-ups starting as early as 10:00am and the main event not until 7:30pm...we spend long hours just hanging out between practice, the qualifiers and the main event. It was so great to see all my racing friends again. It really made me miss being at the track every weekend.
On Friday, practice ran smooth. I won my quilifier, which gave me first gate pick for the main event. As the gate dropped during the main event, I was first off the line. Not far behind me was Blake Sarver and Jacob Klingaman. The two of them tangled, causing Blake to stall and Jacob to flip his quad. That left me with a large lead and my pal Brogan Guyer running in 2nd. I finished the race without any problems, leaving me winning the Friday night main event. There were 7 quads in my class that night.
On Saturday practice again ran smooth. Again, I won my qualifier and got first gate pick for the main event. As the gates dropped for the main event, I took the holeshot, but my buddy Jacob Klingaman wasn't far behind me. He stayed on my tail the entire time. He pushed me hard and together we gave the crowd a great show. I finished in 1st with Jacob finishing in 2nd. There were 6 quads in my class that night. It was nice taking a little break from the summer series, but racing the arenacross race and seeing all my friends again really makes me miss racing. The outdoor season doesn't start until sometime in March, so I will be anxious until then.
I want to take a moment to talk about a rider named Ryan Harris. I don't know him personally, but he suffered a horrible head injury during the Fort Wayne Arenacross weekend. There were a lot of rumors flying about his condition, but thankfully he is in stable condition but is in intensive care. Please take a moment to say a prayer for him and his family. Pray for a quick and full recovery for our fellow rider. In the sport of racing, we are all family. God Bless Ryan and his family during this difficult time. You can get updates on Ryan's condition at this website:

My next venture will be the District 15 Awards Banquet in February. I will update you then!

Happy New Year | Arenacross Update
We went to Arenacross in Hammond, Indiana Saturday December 27th and bought pit passes & just hung out and watched the races.
Sunday the 28th I raced. I made it through both practices and got 2nd in the qualifier. When the main event came I was lined up at the gate with the throttle revved and I had to wave at the starter to hold the gate. My throttle was stuck wide open. The cable was loose and wouldn't engage so we had to be pulled from the line. We thought the cable had broken in the housing...but after getting it home we discovered that the slide had stuck open. There was a small chip in the slide. We assumed it chipped and then the chip wedged between the slide and carb and stuck it open.
Anyhow..I was very happy that my pal Blake Sarver ended up winning in the mini quad class on Sunday. He raced Friday and Saturday...and didnt do so well. There was some really good competition there!
